Our wonderful pedigree feline companions include British Shorthairs and Maine Coons. They all share our bungalow with access to a huge outside run. I am a member of the Short Haired Cat Society and the Maine Coon Cat Club.
I have had a long journey with animals. My parents ran a very successful boarding kennels and cattery, and I had the privilege of growing up surrounded by wonderful dogs and cats. Since becoming an adult, I have generally had 'rescue' pets – as I can't resist a sob story.
A few years back, I rescued an elderly blue British cat called Revel – she was a gorgeous cat with a splendid loving attitude. Sadly, I only owned her for about a year, as a combination of age and ill-health caught up with her. But I was smitten, and Revel is the reason I have started breeding and showing British Shorthairs.
My Maine Coon fixation started some five years ago, with a visit to Boston, Massachusetts, to visit with my cousin. She owned a great furball beast of a cat – 'Muggsy', or 'The Mugger'! When I got home and looked into this breed – I fell in love with these gentle giants, and vowed one day to have one!
It has long been my ambition to breed and show, and at last I have been fortunate enough to find a property with enough space and gardens to be able to do so, and also some time to spare. (And a handy, cat-loving hubby!!) How lucky am I!
I am registered with the GCCF. My prefix is 'Squishy' - This came about because the British have such round, squishy faces!
